At The Lucky Sparrow, we break down the game of American Mahjong into approachable levels, providing you with a solid foundation of knowledge to play anywhere and win.
As a member of the Mahj Life Instructor Guild, The Lucky Sparrow pledges to teach per the NMJL rules. Any table rules that are presented will be specifically cited as such. This means that students will have a clear understanding of the base rules and can play at any table.

Setting the foundation of your mahjong knowledge with NMJL rules is essential to playing the game correctly…and having fun!
This 2-hour session covers the setup/tiles, rules, dealing, and gameplay. The Lucky Sparrow “How-to-Play American Mahjong” handout is included for each participant.

Know your way around the setup and a basic understanding of the rules? Take your play further with additional strategies to play and win!
This 2-hour session reviews the current card (strengths, weaknesses, pivot plays), Charleston strategies, and ways to play defensively.
PRICING: $200/Four Players ($50pp)

Sometimes it’s nice to have a knowledgeable teacher in arms reach to help clarify rules and advise on strategies.
This 2-hours of guided play allows for your group to have a resident expert for any and all questions while you play!

Whether you want to learn the game without a crowd or want to strengthen your existing Mahjong skills, The Lucky Sparrow can help!
Sharpen your game with a private one-on-one, hourly coaching session. Focus will be based on meeting where you currently are to help establish or improve your gameplay.
Lessons can be in person or virtual using zoom and ILoveMahj.com.
